Who priorities of vaccines against influenza A/H1N1

Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Ferruccio Fazio has today signed an Order on "Urgent measures Influenza vaccination for H1N1 pandemic. "
The measure identifies the categories of persons to which it is the offer of influenza vaccination with pandemic H1N1 vaccine from the time of the actual availability of the vaccine (the delivery to the regions and provinces Autonomous is forecast for the period 15 October to 15 November 2009) to cover at least 40% of the population resident in Italy.
In order of priority will be given to offering vaccination:
- people deemed essential for the maintenance of continuity of care and occupational health staff and social health, public security forces personnel and civil defense, government personnel, agencies Society and ensure that essential public services; regular blood donors;
- women in the second or third trimester of pregnancy;
- people at risk, aged between 6 months and 65 years;

- people between 18 and 27 years, not included in the above paragraphs.
Particularly at risk are considered those with: chronic diseases affecting the respiratory system, including asthma, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, cystic fibrosis, COPD, cardiovascular diseases, including congenital and acquired heart disease, diabetes mellitus and other diseases metabolic diseases, renal insufficiency with renal diseases of the hematopoietic and hemoglobinopathies, cancer, severe liver disease and cirrhosis of the liver and congenital diseases acquisite che comportino carente produzione di anticorpi; immunosoppressione indotta da farmaci o da HIV; malattie infiammatorie croniche e sindromi da malassorbimento intestinale; patologie associate ad un aumentato rischio di aspirazione delle secrezioni respiratorie, ad esempio malattie neuromuscolari; obesità con Indice di massa corporea (BMI) > 30 e gravi patologie concomitanti; condizione di familiare o di contatto stretto di soggetti ad alto rischio che, per controindicazioni temporanee o permanenti, non possono essere vaccinati.
In base alla disponibilità di vaccino pandemico nel corso della campagna vaccinale potranno essere inserite nel programma anche altre categorie di soggetti.
Il vaccino sarà distribuito alle Regioni e Autonomous Provinces on the basis of population and other government departments on the basis of specific agreements.
